Nationwide WIMAX is coming soon to all.

March 26th, 2008

As I predicted 2 years ago. This technology is going to be the next boom. It may help revive our economy and make us forget about the housing slump.

It looks like Comcast, Time Warner, Sprint-Nextel, Verizon, Google and Clearwire are planning on investing Billions of dollars into this technology:

Now you can relate this to my WIMAX post below which I wrote about in 2006:

XP Drivers for Toshiba Laptop A135-SP4796, why are they forcing us to Use Vista?

March 19th, 2008

I guess I am not the only person that recently got my hands on a Toshiba notebook Satellite A135-SP 4796 and I also immediately ran into problems with it and its Spanish version of Windows Vista.

This laptop was purchased by a friend of mine and since I am at IT pro, I decided to fix it up for her. The laptop must have been build for sale South America, maybe Argentina or Uruguay. I see many posts in spanish and they are from those domains. So I guess this Laptop is not made in the US.  But I had no idea how this was going to become a nightmare.  So far I have spent 10 hours looking for drivers.

What had happened was the following: The laptop had Spanish Vista and the wireless was not working so my friend asked me to fix it. So since I am not a fan of Vista or any new OS that are resourse hogs and also it was a Home edition. So I pulled out my windows XP CD and started to run setup. I have found that Windows XP still works much better that Windows Vista, unless you have installed lots of Memory and a Super CPU. But this Laptop does not have that. I do not know why Miscrosoft and Toshiba insists on forcing people to use Windows Vista that was preinstalled. With Vista it took this machine about 5 minutes to boot up, and it would take ages to just open any explorer window.

This Laptop was obviously not designed for windows Vista! but Toshiba is probably afraid of messing with the Big “M” Microsoft tm.

So now that I had re formatted the hard drive for XP I ran into a new problem and that is that there were no drivers to be found. Windows XP only installed a few basic drivers, but it left the Wireless Card, VGA and Ethernet card without a driver.

So as usual, I searched the web for the missing XP drivers and that is when I found out that Toshiba only has Vista drivers and furthermore, as I searched the web, many users are complaining about the same thing. Now it was too late to tell my friend to take back this piece of junk and return it to whoever sold it to her.. But I wish i would have done so. Now I spent many hours researching the web and found very few links that showed XP drivers for Toshiba.

But we want to have XP drivers.  So I had to keep searching little by little until I found some of them.

I also learned from some forums, that if you call Toshiba, they will tell you that they will not support XP and hang up. I am not sure if that is true, but who knows!

But the drivers are out there and after many long hours I did find them.

I found the wireless driver  on the Aleros web site. In my case it was Atheros AR2425

DOWNLOAD ATHEROS DRIVER HERE:

They have an XP driver!!! So why doesn’t Toshiba? Well I guess I know which brand I will

not buy the next time I am shopping!

I also found a driver pack for a simular model: a135-s2276 and after I unzipped this file I found the video driver and a few others.  Please note that the video driver was actually located in one of the mobile intel(r) 945GM chipset subfolders, so you will have to search one by one until windows XP accepts it!

The video driver works fine and in Device manager it will show Mobile Intel(r) 945 GM Express Chipset 2 times.

Now I am working on the Audio.  I do not see a yellow exclamation in device manager, but if I go into Control Panel Sounds, excery option is greyed out. If anybody has had success, please let me know.

The Housing Market Bubble is still Bursting!

March 4th, 2008

What you can do about it? Well for starters, look at history. The last time we had a Real Estate Crash in Florida it was about 1920. Well it took over 10 years to clear the dust. The same thing happened in Japan several years ago and it took over 12 years to recover. The current Bubble burst in the Summer of 2006. So we are not going to see the bottom until late 2009.

So what does that mean? If you own a home and want to sell it, you have to offer it for a lower price than the competition. I am in the same boat. I bought a house in Homestead Florida Pre-construction and I closed in the Summer of 2006. What a big mistake.

I would have been much better off walking away that day. They would have kept my 30,000 deposit which I lost anyway. Well that is unless I am willing to keep this house for at least another 6 or 7 years! And then I payed over 20,000 closing costs and now the property went down even further and I will have to short sell it for $30,000 less than I owe the bank. So if you are interested in paying $250 K for a house that cost me over $325 K, you can have it. The builder won and I admit it.

The same thing goes for you if you are about to close on any type of Pre-construction property, house, condo etc. Go to another Realtor and pretend that you want to buy the exact same type of unit. If you can find one for a price that is less than your price that your contract says. Well that forget about your deposit. It is lost, unless you have 6 or 7 years time to wait for the Real Estate Market to pick up again. I mean some Miracles do happen, but don’t let that builder or Realtor leave you to believe that the Market will be back on track next year.

I say no way my friend. It just aint happening anytime soon. Not until 2010 or so.

Recover from Over Priced Housing.

January 10th, 2008

If you are reading this post. Do not feel alone. So many people bought over priced homes from builders between 2004 and 2006, and now they are stuck with them because they are impossible to sell, unless you are willing to loose at least $75,000 or more. I know this is true, because I did it too. I bought a house in Homestead Florida and you can even see some pictures in my previous postings.

Well the reason for this post is, that I am wondering if anybody can help me to sue my builder or bank for having granted a loan for such an over priced property.

One idea is: Why can’t we force the builder of new homes to take back a house that they know was sold at an overpriced value. 2 years ago, I bought a house from Prime Home Builder in Homestead Florida. They sold me a house for over $300,000, but the real price should have been no more than $200,000 and even that may be too much. Well they somehow persuaded my lender to give me a $260,000 loan to buy this house. So why can’t we force these builders to take back these houses 2 years later, even oif they give me only $260,000. they can keep my deposit. But since average sale prices are about $250,000 K and nobody is buying they should be forced to buy it back from me. They were the Scammers! I also was tricked in to paying the builder almost $25,000 in bogus closing costs.

But first I need to know if the laws are in our favor or will the government that writes these laws favor the big builders instead. If I find out that I can start a class action law suit. I am sure many other victims will want to join in. So let me know what you think about this topic.

RC bomb sniffers: How we can help save more troops in Iraq.

October 4th, 2007

I recently saw an article about how the Iraqui insurgients are now using more explosives to harm our troops. They now have I.E.D’s with 100 lbs of explosives. Well at first thought I said we should use more of our 1000 lb bombs on all of those bastards.

If I was president I personally would nuke them all. This war would have been over a whole lot faster if we did that. The Geneva convention was written by a whole bunch of sissy’s anyway. But hat is just my opinion.

Since we have to play war the dirty way, where the enemy is given more priveleges and our soldier have one hand tied behind their backs, Well then there is another way that we can save our troops from harm. And no matter how smart those raghead fools are. They will not be able to outsmart us on this idea.

Well here it is: We should mount Explosive Sniffers on Remote control Dune Buggies and assign a few of them to each and every one of our Military Units. If we mass produce them and use cheap remote control cars that can be easily repaired or replaced. We can still affords this and even if somebody marks up the price, like they always do. It will still be a lot cheaper than the cost of having troops killed and whole trucks destroyed.

So let the RC cars with the bomb sniffer technology drive a few feet ahead of our military convoys and if it detects explosives. Well then we can back up our trucks and call in an airstrike with a few 10,000 lb bombs and level the whole area, including the enemy and all of there stupid IED’s (impovised explosive devices). Another idea if we are too cheap,  to use RC cars, is to always have an Iraqui truck drive in front of the Convoy and that too could have the bomb sniffer equipments in it. And if they are too late, well then we only loose a two faced Iraqui troop instead of an American Troop!

Flat Panel Plasma TV Wall Mounting

September 21st, 2007

Lately everybody is buying new Plasma and LCD TV’s and they are beautiful.

But they look even better if you can mount them on the wall and hide the wires.

I have learned how to do this and now I am offereing this service as part of my Movicomp Services Installations. I have a lot of experience with hooking up Stereos, DJ equipment and Home Theater systems with Surround Sound. And I also still do Computer Repairs and Home Network installations. I can run all of the wires and neatly. So if you live in the local Miami area or Broward. Look up my web site at:

http://www.movicompservices.com

In the meantime don’t forget that you too can post your comments and questions here and I will be more that glad to assist you.
