While we live in America, we enjoy freedoms that are superior to most other countries. But there are a couple of things that unless we travel to other places we will not be aware of. It is the Taxis. In almost every country in the world besides the USA, you can get a Taxi cheaper.

I live in Miami and I can tell you that it is cheaper to rent a car than to pay for a Taxi, unless you are only going 1/9 of a mile! or something real close distance like that. The Taxi Monoploly in my city and miost USA is something that I would be expecting to see in some communist country’s.

Here is the problem: Nobody is allowed to independently own and operate their own Taxi and at the same time have the freedom to charge whatever prices they feels like. It is all controlled by a large Union, or Taxi monopoly.

Well of course the good side of this is that one can argue that too many taxis will polute our city, but then again it forces everybody that lives in Miami to need to by a car. Either way we are poluting are city. So how about this idea. Why not let any owner of an electric car be their own indepentant Taxi and be allowed to charge whatever fee they want to. This would help reduce our high unemployment too.

Here is one more example:

I recently visited Lima Peru. There the unemployment rate is lower than in the USA. Reason is anybody can rent a car from a friend or relative and go drive around as a Taxi. The rates are incredably cheap. You can pay $2 and go 5 or 10 miles. Nice drivers too. They say their economy is not being effected by the global recession. The people are really nice in Lima, lots of beautiful women there too.
